Earth has been struck by "The Great Literalisation". Overnight, all figurative language, metaphors, and idioms have vanished, leaving human speech completely dull, monochrome, and robotic. The lost idioms have been sucked through a linguistic wormhole and scattered across the 13 sectors of the Lexicon Galaxy. Because the aliens in this galaxy take everything 100% literally, these glowing, physicalised idioms are causing absolute chaos on their planets.
Earth’s premier storytellers, Mr Sam and Mr Hand, are dispatched aboard the starship SS Plain Sailing to track down the runaway phrases, solve the planetary ESL challenges, and restore colour and character to the English language.
