    Alicja Kwade -Polish visual artist / Takuma Fujisaki - Japanese artist / Professor Stephen Tang - Head of Countryside Conservation Office / Rebecca Chuang - HK Arts Centre / Christy Hui - Facilitator

    This week, we look at the work of Polish visual artist Alicja Kwade, whose exhibition at Tai Kwun explores our perception of time. We’ll meet Japanese artist Takuma Fujisaki, who crafts colorful, fluffy alien monsters from pipe cleaners - definitely not your typical monsters! Also on the programme, we’ll find out more about the Countryside Harvest Festival in Sha Tau Kok, and explore exciting street performances in Tai Kok Tsui.

    18/01/2025 - Alicja Kwade - Polish-visual artist

    "Pretopia", is Polish-visual artist Alicja Kwade’s first solo institutional exhibition in Hong Kong. The artwork reflects on our perception of time, and proposes new perspectives for viewing and understanding reality. The venue for the exhibition, Tai Kwun — which housed the former Victoria Prison — also adds another dimension to the exhibit. CultureZine’s Ingrid Chen visited the exhibition and spoke to Alicia. First, she asked how this collaboration got started and where she got her inspirations from:

    CultureZine’s Carol Mang has just explored Tai Kok Tsui and joined a special event there called - “Ivy says: Intergenerational music theatre performance“. It’s organized by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and aims to use performing arts to enhance connections between the elderly, children and young artists within the community. Carol went to find out more:

    18/01/2025 - Takuma Fujisaki - Japanese artist

    Shaggy and fluffy are words often used to describe the colorful monster aliens or mogols created by Japanese artist Takuma Fujisaki.. The mogols are created using pipe cleaners — basically flexible wires covered in colorful fibre … and these monsters that have been gaining popularity around the world are now in Hong Kong.     Finally on CultureZine, we look at the Countryside Harvest Festival that kicks off today at Kuk Po Village in Sha Tau Kok .     18/05/2024 - Yelin Qiu - Modern art specialist, Co-founder of Temple of Light

    Phil Whelan spoke to modern art specialist Yelin Qiu about Tamar Park that has been transformed into a giant, immersive, interactive art installation by the Japanese art collective teamLab, and their weird and wonderful use of giant glowing eggs. The exhibition has been extended to June the eighth because of popular demand. Mr Qiu explained why immersive art installations are gaining popularity, and what exactly is immersive art in the first place:
