Hong Kong movies are renowned for their action scenes – which are only possible thanks to the sacrifices made by that special breed of cinematic professionals… known as stunt performers. And they’ve really come under the spotlight this year. Earlier, we had a Hollywood movie, the Fall Guy, about stunt performers, and now it’s our turn. A new local production, Stuntman, promises to take a deeper look at the craft and its performers. And it’s not just about taking punches and kicks and falling off buildings – though there’s plenty of that – it also delves into the emotions of stuntmen and what makes them tick. The movie is co-directed by Albert and Herbert Leung who are twins, and both stuntmen-turned-filmmakers. They spoke to CultureZine’s Halim:

To help propel the city’s rise as a global cultural hub, the first Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo will take place in the middle of next month. A series of local and international performances will be held as well as talks, exhibition and networking activities to encourage interaction, and promote exchange among arts professionals here and around the globe.
