    Mega dam construction

    主持人:CM Chan and Chloe Feng

This week, we explore the mainland’s hydropower project on Tibet’s Yarlung Tsangpo River—hailed by Premier Li Qiang as the “project of the century”. Set to become the world’s largest hydropower source, this mega-dam, first proposed in 2020, finally began construction last month.
Beyond clean energy, the mainland hopes the project will provide economic benefits to the Tibetan region. It also stressed its commitment to ecological conservation.
How will it boost renewable energy supplies? What economic benefits will it bring?
CM Chan and Chloe Feng will discuss this with Brian Eyler, the director of the Energy, Water, and Sustainability Program at the Stimson Centre in Washington. And remember we’d love to hear from you. If you have any comments, let us know. Email Radio3@rthk.hk.
