In this episode we continue our look at musical instruments in Edmund Blair Leighton paintings. He created many Regency era love scenes and the hauntingly beautiful How Lisa Loved the King - a subject from Boccaccio’s The Decameron. The programme features lute and harp music and Music from the Time of Boccaccio's Decameron (14th century) performed by Musica Reservata and soloists using instruments such as rebecs, citoles and recorders to evoke that era.
WHERE ART AND MUSIC COLLIDE
