The history of painters and sculptors designing sets and costumes for opera and dance is exceptionally rich. We’ve learned that over the course of a few months by exploring Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes who brought together Darius Milhaud, Coco Chanel, Jean Cocteau, and Bronislava Nijinska with Pablo Picasso. Countless others followed. In the 21st century we can include visual artist Tacita Dean.
Her collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor and composer Thomas Adès on The Dante Project is a part of the lineage previously mentioned. This episode focuses on 'Dante' and its creators.
