Chronicle of Notable Chinese
Chronicle of Notable Chinese
Professor Jao Tsung I, a preeminent master of Chinese studies, possessed extraordinary talent and scholarly rigor spanning twenty-five disciplines, including literature, history, archaeology, and the fine arts. Beginning his journey in his hometown of Chaozhou, he stood as a guardian of culture through turbulent times. After relocating to Hong Kong, he leveraged the city's unique position at the crossroads of East and West to gather rare global manuscripts, writing a glorious chapter in the international academic arena. Professor Jao not only broke new ground in academia but also personally embodied the " The Integration of Scholarship and Art" He seamlessly channeled his profound erudition, drawn from studying Sanskrit, the Dunhuang manuscripts, and various other fields, into the spirit of his own calligraphy and painting. Deeply believing that "the 21st century is the era of the Chinese Renaissance," he translated this conviction into action, dedicating his later years to promoting cross-regional academic exchange and mentoring the next generation. His global influence has left behind a rich and enduring cultural legacy. Featuring Interviews with Professor Lee Chack Fan (Director, Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole, The University of Hong Kong; Chairman of the Management Board, Jao Tsung-I Academy) Dr. John Yiu (Deputy Director, Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole, The University of Hong Kong) Professor Zeng Xiantong (Professor, Department of Chinese, Sun Yat-sen University) Professor CHENG Hwei Shing (Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Chinese Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong) Wang Fen (Museum Researcher, Jao Tsung-I Museum, Chaozhou)
