It’s all classical music in this week’s show, and - specifically - classical music from the perspective of young Hong Kong musicians. In part two, we’re bringing you a new quartet made up of four Hong Kong players. They’re the HoKo Quartet and they’ll be playing a piece by a Russian composer known for his conservative, classic compositions, Alexander Glazunov. Before that though: pianist Enoch Wai might be just a secondary school student, but he has already decided that music is his vocation. This week, the piece that he’s picked to introduce to us is by the Turkish composer and pianist, Fazil Say (pronounced Sy), whose music reflects jazz, improvisation and Turkish traditions. This year’s two-month long Fringe Festival, which began in December includes more than 100 programmes. Organised in eight categories, the festival showcases cross-disciplinary works by 300 local and international artists. Among those artists are the four young musicians who make up the HoKo Quartet. They’re here to tell us what they have in store.

Lau Fau Shan, famed for its oysters—including a species named after Hong Kong—was once home to over a thousand oyster farmers. Today, only a few dozens remain. Timothy Chan, born and raised in Lau Fau Shan, returned as an adult with a mission to preserve his homeland’s legacy. Chan Shu-fung, an oyster farmer in his 40s and chairman of the oyster cultivation association, strives to innovate and sustain Hong Kong’s oyster farming heritage. Amid the waves of Deep Bay, the stories of Lau Fau Shan’s oyster farmers unfold, carrying the weight of tradition and hope for the future.

Death may seem like the final destination of life's journey, but it can also be viewed as a graduation ceremony from life. The "Values Education Curriculum Framework" established by the Education Bureau emphasizes the strengthening of "life education". By facing the reality of death, we reflect on life and actively confront our existence.
