It’s estimated that around 117 billion people have lived on Earth. That’s 117 billion different ways to be human.
100 Billion Ways, hosted by Cruzanne Macalligan, is a weekly conversation exploring what it really means to live those differences - and what we can learn from them.
The programme brings together thoughtful conversations, personal stories and music, as guests share their lived experiences of identity, culture, disability, faith, neurodiversity, parenting, advocating and belonging. Moving beyond labels and assumptions, the show focuses on how people navigate the world through their own perspectives and experiences. Listeners are invited to reconsider what difference really means, and discover that even in our differences, there is often far more that connects us.
Sundays, 3-4pm on RTHK Radio 3.
This week, Cruzanne Macalligan speaks with Gundeep Singh, a senior occupational therapist at The Child Development Centre in Hong Kong.
Beloved by many autism families in Hong Kong for his compassionate, practical and down-to-earth approach, Gundeep has spent more than 15 years as an OT, and helps children build confidence, independence and the everyday skills that allow them to thrive. He shares why progress matters more than perfection, how every child develops differently, and why the greatest gift we can give children is to see them for who they are - not just the challenges they may face.
Gundeep discusses neurodiversity, fatherhood, belonging, and how there is no single way to grow, learn, or be human.

This week on 100 Billion Ways, Cruzanne Macalligan explores what variation means for each of us, through a conversation with genetic counselor Yoyo Chu. Together, they unpack variation, identity, and diagnosis, revealing how biology, choice, and lived experience intertwine - challenging ideas of “normal” and highlighting empathy, connection, and the shared humanity within our differences.
