School closures / Forum of Indian Professionals in Hong Kong

    主持人:Jenny Lam and Ada Wong

On today's Backchat, we’re talking about the drop in primary student numbers.

Education minister Christine Choi said on Friday the government was left with little choice but to change rules on how local schools can continue to operate, as Hong Kong faces a dwindling pupil population.
Recent estimates indicate that the number of Primary One students is expected to drop by 23 percent over the next six years. This has prompted the Education Bureau to unveil more stringent rules for government-funded schools, with two of them already confirming that they will not be offering subsidized Primary One classes in the 2025-26 academic year.
After 9:40, we speak to the organiser of this year's Forum of Indian Professionals in Hong Kong and learn more from an activist on how companies can play their part to fight human trafficking.

    9:05am-9:40am: School closures

9:05am-9:30am: Dion Chen, Principal of Ying Wah College and Chair of the Hong Kong Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools’ Council

9:05am-9:40am: Ruth Benny, Founder of Top Schools

9:05am-9:40am: Mervyn Cheung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Education Policy Concern Organisation
