    Consumer Electronics Show / Obesity trends / EU-Mercosur deal and French protests

    On Friday's programme, we began the show by talking about Hong Kong's involvement at the Consumer Electronics Show in the US, one of the world's largest tech conventions.

    We then focused on health, because a study has found that nearly one in two people in the SAR is overweight, or obese.

    After the break, we turned to France, where the government faces renewed political pressure following large-scale protests against the EU-Mercosur trade deal. The agreement was approved despite France’s opposition in the EU Council. Can French President Emmanuel Macron withstand another political crisis?

    South Korea's new president / Chinese opera for deities / Elderly mental health initiative

    On Friday's Backchat, we talked about South Korean politics. The country new president Lee Jae-myung wasted little time holding his first cabinet meeting to focus on the economy, after winning the snap presidential election earlier this week. We spoke to experts about the array of challenges Mr Lee faces.
    After the break, we changed tunes and talked about Cantonese Opera. For the first time, Chinese opera for deities will be staged at the West Kowloon Cultural District from 30 July to 2 August. We learned more about how the unique art preserves tradition.
    And finally, a programme sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is partnering with several district health centres to better support the mental health of the elderly. We found out more from the head of the programme.
