Eco-tourism in Mai Po / "Round-the-Island Trail" initiative / Cuba crisis

On this programme, we begin by taking a closer look at a plan by the Security Bureau to allow greater access to the ecologically rich Mai Po area, which is currently designated a restricted zone. We talked to the executive director of the Travel Industry Council and get her thoughts on how this can boost the tourism sector.

We then chatted with a local hiking expert about the "Round-the-Island Trail" initiative, which is aimed at connecting a number of trails and promenades in Southern district.
After the break, we took a deep-dive into the latest on the crisis Cuba is facing, following an ever-tightening embargo grip around the island by Washington. US President Donald Trump is trying to force a regime change through crippling sanctions on the island nation, which has drawn condemnation by the international community, including the Mexican leader Claudia Sheinbaum.

QS World University Rankings / Horseshoe crab conservation

    主持人:Azam Khan and Mike Rowse

On Monday's Backchat, we discussed Hong Kong's development as a global education hub.
The SAR achieved the highest rate of improvement in Asia in the latest QS World University Rankings, with the University of Hong Kong rising six places to 11th globally — the city's best-ever performance. Five Hong Kong universities now fall within the world’s top 100.

We spoke to experts about the city's achievements and how the education sector can build upon its successes.

In the second part of our programme, we heard from Ocean Park about the use of drones and artificial intelligence to study the horseshoe crab population in Hong Kong’s largest horseshoe crab nursing ground -- Ha Pak Nai in Yuen Long. We found out how the use of technology can help policymakers implement more targeted conservation measures.
