New batch of Epstein files / Record high Belt and Road investment figures / Social network for AI agents

On Friday's programme, we began with a closer look at the latest tranche of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The millions of documents released by the US Department of Justice contained the names of the rich and the powerful, from Elon Musk to Bill Gates, Republicans, Democrats, British politicians, Israeli intelligence agents, among others.

We then talked to experts on what the implications are, and if Epstein's victims are any closer to getting justice.

After the break, we heard from a scholar about how the Belt and Road Initiative was able to hit a record-high last year in total investment and construction. The mega-project has seen a deepening of economic cooperation in Africa and Central Asia.

And lastly, we talked with our tech correspondent and learn all about 'Moltbook', a social media platform that's designed for AI agents. Should we be amused, or afraid?

Record-breaking rainstorms / Space economy development

    主持人:Rainbow Leung and John Bruce

On Wednesday's Backchat, we looked at why there's been extreme rainfall in the past few days. The Observatory had issued the Black Rainstorm Warning four times in eight days, the most it has ever set within a year. The forecaster also said precipitation seen at its Tsim Sha Tsui headquarters broke the daily rainfall record for August, since record keeping began in 1884.
In Beijing, authorities upgraded their rainstorm alert to the highest level on Monday. A day prior, flooding was recorded in Gansu and Qinghai. We talked to climate scientists to learn more about what's behind these adverse weather events.
After the break, we looked at the opportunities Hong Kong can seize in the space economy. The Federation of Hong Kong Industries has urged the government to promptly formulate space economy policies, after jointly publishing a report with the City University of Hong Kong.

    9:05am-9:40am: Record-breaking rainstorms
    Speakers:
Amos Tai, Associate Professor and Director of the Earth System Science Programme, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Benjamin Horton, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment; Chair Professor of Earth Science at City University of Hong Kong
Roland Sharman, Founder & CEO of HKOutsider

    9:40am-10:00am: Space economy development
