    CUHK's AI-assisted system to detect diatbetic eye disease / Smart street-hail taxi system / Challenges faced by dual-income parents / Survey on retirement planning

    On this programme, we learn how a research team from the Chinese University of Hong Kong developed a AI-assisted diabetes detection system that improve the accuracy of screening and referrals, which could shorten patient waiting times.

    After that, in another AI-innovation marvel, we find out about an AI-powered demand forecasting system designed for Hong Kong’s street-hail taxi network.

    After the break, we hear all about another study by the Chinese University of Hong Kong that discovered that dual-income parents, especially working mothers, were still facing a lot of challenges in Hong Kong.

    And finally, we look into a survey that found that around half of the city's residents believe they need at least HK$5 million to fund their retirement.

    New police mobile app / Kai Tak Sports Park new outdoor facilities / Shanghai data centre development / Clinical Education Conference 2025

    On Thursday's Backchat, we looked at a new police mobile app, which will be launched on August 10. The force says it will be a one-stop-shop where users can report crimes or make enquiries.

    We also heard from the Kai Tak Sports Park about new outdoor facilities there that can host multiple sports.
    After the break, we talked to a think-tank about Shanghai's plan to build five new large-scale data centres.
    And finally, an expert shared his experience from the first Clinical Education Conference hosted by the Polytechnic University’s Department of Rehabilitation Sciences.
