    The National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games / Indonesian helpers affected by Tai Po fire / Filipino helpers affected by Tai Po fire / DesignInspire 2025

    On Friday's Backchat, we looked at how Hong Kong is gearing up for the upcoming National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games, which will be co-hosted by the two SARs and Guangdong. The Games will kick off next Monday and conclude on December 15.Hong Kong is sending its largest contingent to date, with more than 280 athletes. 
    We then spoke to officials from Indonesia and the Philippines on the latest regarding foreign domestic helpers who are affected by the devastating Tai Po fire.
    And finally, two local artists told us more about this year's DesignInspire -- an annual creative showcase presented by the Trade Development Council.

    Wine and Spirits Fair / CUHK Diabetes Study / Russian Culture Festival / HKU Depression Study

    On Thursday's Backchat, we looked at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, which will open on November 6. Organised by the Trade Development Council, the three-day fair will feature over 620 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, and it's expected to draw thousands of buyers.

    We then heard about the latest diabetes study conducted by the Chinese University. Researchers used data from over 21,000 patients in the SAR to estimate the chances of developing serious diseases.

    After the break, we found out more about this year's Russian Culture Festival in Hong Kong which kicks off on October 30.

    And finally, we talked to a professor from the University of Hong Kong about a study which found that people with depression face double the risk of mortality compared with the general population.
