Diesel subsidies / Formula 1 in Hainan? / North Tsing Yi underground quarry

On this programme, we checked how the Iran war is impacting Hong Kong. With oil pricing surging, lawmakers have approved a $1.8 billion dollar relief package to help businesses cope with rising fuel costs. Starting later this month, diesel-powered commercial vehicles and vessels will receive a HK$3-per-litre subsidy for a period of two months. We heard from representatives across sectors to get their thoughts on the move.

After the break, we brought you the latest in Formula 1 as Hainan’s local government signalled its intention to bring the race to the southern island, after it unveiled development plans aimed at securing the motorsport’s premier event for the province.

And to wrap up the show, we talked to an engineer as authorities move forward with plans to develop an underground quarry in North Tsing Yi, scheduled for commission in 2028.

New batch of Epstein files / Record high Belt and Road investment figures / Social network for AI agents

    Presenters:Brian Wong and Rainbow Leung

On Friday's programme, we began with a closer look at the latest tranche of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The millions of documents released by the US Department of Justice contained the names of the rich and the powerful, from Elon Musk to Bill Gates, Republicans, Democrats, British politicians, Israeli intelligence agents, among others.

We then talked to experts on what the implications are, and if Epstein's victims are any closer to getting justice.

After the break, we heard from a scholar about how the Belt and Road Initiative was able to hit a record-high last year in total investment and construction. The mega-project has seen a deepening of economic cooperation in Africa and Central Asia.

And lastly, we talked with our tech correspondent and learn all about 'Moltbook', a social media platform that's designed for AI agents. Should we be amused, or afraid?
