    On Wednesday's Backchat, China-US virtual meeting; and pay trend survey.

    President Xi Jinping has told his US counterpart Joe Biden that the two nations need to increase communication and cooperation, and uphold mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

    Mr Xi was speaking during a virtual meeting between the two leaders, lasting more than three and half hours, describing Mr Biden as "my old friend".

    According to a White House statement, Mr Biden said the US remains committed to the one-China policy and stated that the US does not support Taiwan independence.

    It said the two leaders also discussed Tibet, Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
