On Thursday's Backchat: the cargo industry; and public toilets.
The global delivery company FedEx has confirmed that it is closing its Hong Kong pilot base, citing the territory's Covid-19 regulations as being partly behind its decision.
At the start of this year the company announced that it was relocating 180 pilots from Hong Kong to California. In confirming the closure of the base it said it would maintain its operations in Hong Kong which was vital to its Asia-pacific and global network.
Meanwhile, about 150 Cathay Pacific crew are now reported to be under quarantine at the Penny’s Bay facility, after three cargo pilots tested positive for Covid-19 on return from Frankfurt. The company has also placed additional self-isolation requirements on aircrew on arrival back in Hong Kong.
From 9:15am, changing the subject completely, we’re looking at the Best Public Toilet Awards 2021, ahead of World Toilet Day.
