On Wednesday’s Backchat, we’re talking about the future of Hong Kong’s northern wetlands.
The new environment and ecology minister Tse Chin-wan says a study of the ecologically-sensitive areas in the northern new Territories should be finished by the end of the year, and authorities will take a fresh look at setting their boundaries.
This may result in some buffer areas being freed up for development, but the environment chief stressed that the main purpose is to enhance conservation efforts by better managing the area.
What do you think? Is there a win-win scenario for housing development and the environment? Is there a good way to free up usable land without harming the prized habitat for wildlife?
After 9:15, we will look at the difficulties healthcare professionals face in increasing the uptake of potentially life-saving HPV vaccines.
