    Iran-Israel conflict / Hockey 5's

On Friday's Backchat, we're talking about escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

Last week, Iran fired over 300 drones and missiles in retaliation to its foe's strike on a diplomatic compound in Damascus earlier this month, killing 16, including two civilians.
This is the first time ever that Iran has launched an attack on Israel directly from its own territory.
And, while Israel's air defence system thwarted 99% percent of the Iranian missiles, with only one serious casualty recorded, some analysts worry that a repeat of last week's tit-for-tat could be far more intensive.
Was the Iranian attack on Israel, and the threats of retaliation from Israel, a game changer? Could we be seeing an escalation in conventional warfare in the region? And how will domestic politics within the US and Israel shape the geo-political landscape?
After 9:45, we learn more from the organisers of this year's Mega Ice Hockey 5's.

Civil service recruitment / Giant inflatable yellow ducks

    主持人:Jim Gould and Car Ha

On Monday's Backchat, we're talking about civil service recruitment, and a new scheme which will allow undergraduates to make earlier applications for government jobs.

Until now, students wanting to join the public service have had to apply in their final year, or after completing their studies. But in future they'll be able to do so in their penultimate year at university, and will receive a conditional offer if successful in the recruitment examinations.

The change, which aligns with private sector practices, comes amid a staff shortage and a high vacancy rate, with many having left the service over the past three years.

Is the private sector now proving more attractive? What about job security? Will these relaxed rules help, and what else can be done to attract new talent into the government?

After 9:45, we get an art critic's take on the reappearance of a giant inflatable yellow duck, and friend, in the harbour.

    9:00am-9:45am: Civil service recruitment

9:00am-9:45am: Andrew Leung, Former Director-General of Social Welfare; International and Independent China Strategist
9:00am-9:45am: Roy Ying, Co-chair of the Advocacy and Policy Research Committee, Hong Kong Institute of Human Resources Management
9:30am-9:45am: John Tse, Executive Director, Hong Kong Unison

    9:45am-10:00am: Giant inflatable yellow ducks

9:45am-10:00am: Enid Tsui, Arts Editor, South China Morning Post
