The future of red minibuses / Vanity car plate auction

    主持人:Jim Gould and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about calls to support Hong Kong's struggling red minibus operators.

Transport industry figures are urging the government to create more green minibus routes and give them to red bus drivers, amid an increase in the number of operators unable to repay their vehicle loans.
A spokesman for the Hong Kong Taxi and Public Light Bus Association has said that of about 1,000 red minibuses in the city, roughly half are currently not in service, and about
100, used as collateral, have been seized in the past three years.
Unlike green minibuses, red ones are usually privately owned and are subject to fewer regulations, with operators able to choose their routes and fix their own fares.
After 9:45, we're looking into a rather unusual but lucrative form of investment: vanity car plates.
