EU election results / International Gastronomy Forum, Macau

On this week's programme, we're talking about the EU election results, as far-right parties made significant gains seconding the centre-right.

In a move sending shock waves within his own camp, French President Emmanuel Macron called for snap legislative elections later this month, after his pro-EU movement Renaissance garnered less than half the National Rally’s support.
Some analysts say that President Macron hopes the snap elections will help contain the surge of the far-right, a risky gamble critics say could turn against odds and see Marine Le Pen's acolyte Jordan Bardella become Prime Minister.
Meanwhile in Germany, the centre-right CDU/CSU alliance claimed victory, followed by the far-right AFD which became the strongest party in eastern states.
What do these results tell us about the EU's trajectory? We find out.
After 9:45, we speak to Macau's tourism chief Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, as the SAR is hosting a 10-day gastronomy forum

Taxi vs ride-hailing rivalry / Hong Kong's first breastmilk bank

    主持人:Andrew Work and Ada Wong

On today's Backchat, we're talking about heightened tensions between ride-hailing providers and taxi drivers.

Cab drivers last week held an "undercover operation" in a move to tackle ride-hailing services, by posing as Uber passengers and calling the police when reaching their destination.
Speaking to RTHK, the chairman of the Hong Kong Taxi and Public Light Bus Association Chow Kwok-keung said that he did not approve of drivers taking the matter into their own hand but called on the authorities to take more stringent action, saying that only 33 prosecutions were launched over unlicensed ride-hailing services last year.
This comes as the government announced an increase of HK$2 dollars in flagfalls, citing rising insurance premium and higher maintenance costs.
Is it time to clamp down on ride-hailing services once and for all? Or should the government create a legal framework to let other players into the market?
After 9:45, we look into Hong Kong's first breastmilk bank which is poised to open next year.
