Founded in 1846, the Hong Kong Club was originally a place for “gentlemen” to socialise; its members even organised horse racing before the Jockey Club was established. Sadly, few pre-World War II records survived. In this 2017 episode, journalist and author Vaudine England tells Annemarie Evans her archival discoveries, including the identities of the very first “members of the local community” , the debate over admitting “ladies”, and so on.

In the second part of a 2019 interview with Molly Odell, daughter-in-law of the late impresario Harry Odell who founded the State Theatre in North Point, fondly recalls her life in Puerto Rico and her home decor business in Hong Kong. Later in the episode, Haider Kikabhoy joins Annemarie Evans to share the remarkable life of Harry Odell and the profound legacy he left behind.
