In 2004, the body of a man was discovered alongside a WWII army helmet during excavation work at a pumping house in Mongkok. The police enlisted war historian Tony Banham to help identify the unknown soldier. But, by the time the soldier was laid to rest at Stanley Military Cemetery in 2009, his identity remained a mystery. AnneMarie Evans visited Mr Banham shortly after the burial to discuss how he narrowed down the possibilities. The second part of the programme features a 2015 interview with Ron Taylor, then chairman of the Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) Association. Marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, Mr Taylor shared the story of Arthur May, the man who erected the Union Jack on the Peak at the end of the war.
