In this week's episode, we will talk about the causes and consequences of the bursting of the Hong Kong housing bubble. Dr. William Kelson from The University of Hong Kong will examine the extent to which the crisis was a market-driven housing crash or a government-driven crash, and whether it was a localized financial crisis and/or the opening salvo of a broader deflationary banking panic. He was invited by the University of Hong Kong to give a speech entitled “Land Mania! The Hong Kong Housing Bubble of the 1880s.”
