Chinese mainland's strengthening partnership with ASEAN

This week, we’ll explore the strengthening partnership between China and neighbouring countries, particularly members of ASEAN—the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
China has been the bloc’s largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years, while ASEAN has been China’s top trading partner for the past five years. And about two months ago in November, the two sides upgraded the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area to a “3.0 version”, signalling a push to future-proof Asia’s trade flows. What's the history behind this relationship? What opportunities are on the horizon?

Weekly Roundup / baby subsidies and family-friendly policies

    主持人:CM Chan and Chloe Feng

Join CM Chan and Chloe Feng this Saturday on Trending China!
This week, we're discussing new baby subsidies and family-friendly policies on the mainland.
As part of efforts to boost birthrate, the mainland will waive tuition fees for children in their final year at public kindergartens, and reduce them for eligible private schools from the next term, in a phased roll-out of free pre-school education
A nationwide childcare subsidy program has also been launched, providing families with 3,600 yuan annually for each newborn under three. This marks a significant initiative from the central government and builds on similar efforts in over 20 provinces.
CM Chan and Chloe Feng will dive deeper into this topic this week with Dr Mu Zheng from the National University of Singapore.
