Weekly Roundup / mainland stock market boom

    主持人:CM Chan and Chloe Feng

This week, we look at the mainland’s stock market boom, with the Shanghai Composite Index recently surging to its highest level in a decade. The blue-chip CSI 300 Index has also surged over 20% from earlier lows, adding nearly a trillion US dollars to the onshore stock market value. In addition, just this month, the tech-focused ChiNext Index soared by 18%, reflecting a growing interest in the high-tech sector.
The gains were driven by onshore investors with high savings, who are feeling optimistic following the easing of Sino-US trade tensions following three rounds of tariff talks. Many are seeking higher returns by shifting their investments from fixed-income assets and traditional real estate to equities.
We’ll discuss this topic on  the programme with Chunlai Wu, Head of Asia Asset Allocation at the Chief Investment Office at UBS Global Wealth Management.
