Popularity of viral mainland app Demumu, formerly known as "Are You Dead?"

This week, Brian Wong explores the viral mainland app Demumu, formerly known as "Are You Dead?"
The app, released by a company called Moonscape Technologies last year, has surged in popularity in recent weeks. At one point, it was the most downloaded paid app in the country.
The app’s concept is quite simple: users must tap a large green button every two days. If they miss a check-in, the app will trigger an automated alert to their emergency contact. While some credit its tongue-in-cheek name for its success, the app's rise is more fundamentally linked to a growing social trend: China is expected to have 200 million single-person households by 2030, accounting for nearly a third of all homes.
To find out more, Brian chats with Charles Ho, Chief Officer for Policy Research and Advocacy at The Hong Kong Council of Social Services, as well as Radio 3’s Rachel Liu.
