ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG
One of the most innovative and influential artists of the past century, Robert Rauschenberg (1925 – 2008) became an iconic American artist when he won the Grand Prize at the 1964 Venice Biennale. On this Culture Show, we will explore his relationship to the performing arts, and in particular, dance – and his collaboration with Merce Cunningham and John Cage. Rauschenberg's work influenced, and was influenced, by the experimental music world with his experimental approach to art mirroring the avant-garde music of his contemporaries.
