Doctor And You – Eat Well Live Well
White rice, brown rice, red rice, black rice and glutinous rice are all rich in carbohydrates, but which one has the highest nutritional value? Which one has the highest glycemic index? Is it harmful to cut rice from your diet to lose weight? Does eating“overnight rice” make it harder for the body to absorb starch? These myths are all addressed by the dietitian in the programme. In this episode, the “Smart Eaters” visit the 200-year-old Yi O Village on Lantau Island to learn about the story of local Hong Kong rice and experience rice planting barefoot with a farmer, through which they finally understand that “every grain of rice is the fruit of hard work”. In addition, the chef host Will teaches the audience how to cook the classic dish “Tai Chi Yin Yang Fried Rice” and gives it a special twist by adding plenty of vegetables to the red and white sauces to make it a healthier dish; he also shares the secret to making “golden fried rice” without clumps. Chinese medicine practitioner Dr Jenny M.H. Yeung shares with the audience the benefits of eating rice for breakfast and recommends the dietary strategy of “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a minister, and dinner like a pauper”. She also discusses with the hosts the advantages and disadvantages of different fasting methods, including 16:8 intermittent fasting and OMAD (One Meal A Day). Hosts: Maggie LEUNG, Will LEUNG (Resident Chef) Guest: Dr Jenny M.H. YEUNG (Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner)

Hong Kong Stories ---Bonding at Water’s Edge
Tai O is characterised by its crisscross watercourses and numerous stilted houses. The tidal flows have shaped the village landscape and regulated the residents’ pace of life. WONG Man-kwong (the Fourth Brother) is a fisherman of the last generation. When the small river calms down at dusk, he will row his sampan to the other side of the river, with his grandson calling out on the shore. Growing up in the stilted house, WONG has been making a living from fishing. Now his greatest happiness comes from playing with his grandson and passing down his crafts. In the village house on the opposite side, WONG’s daughter Hiu-tung returned from the urban area with her family. She said that there was no rush here. Instead, there were greetings from neighbours, and the ease of being able to see her parents across the river. The human touch of Tai O allowed her to slow down and have a more fulfilling daily life. Fan Kwai Tong Village is located on the other side of Tai O. Lonny SHUM from the GenZ loves this place after joining a local woodcraft workshop. Even though he works in Tuen Mun, he still moved to Tai O. At least three days a week, he leads a half-time farming and half-time work life in Tai O, so as to explore the possibilities of life while preserving the rural culture. The artist WONG Chi-chuen is a descendant of fishermen. He was fortunate to be able to study ashore and change his destiny through knowledge. After making his way in the dazzling urban world most of his life, he eventually returned to his homeland to preserve the Tai O culture with creations and actions, as well as record the most beautiful place in his life. With the ebb and flow of tides, the memories of fathers, the daughter’s choice and the youth’s aspirations intertwined into a slow living ambience in Tai O. The watercourses continue to flow and people from every generation can find their own way of life here.

Volunteering for the well-being of our community Good stories of civil servants (English Version)
Volunteering for the well-being of our community Good stories of civil servants (English Version)
Volunteer service brings hope and light to people in need, spreading positive energy throughout the community. In 2024, the Civil Service Bureau launched the Civil Service Volunteer Commendation Scheme to recognise civil service volunteer teams and officers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in participating in or promoting volunteer service. This episode introduces some of the award-winning volunteer teams and individual award recipients under the 2025 Civil Service Volunteer Commendation Scheme, including: The Correctional Services Department’s Oi Kwan Volunteer Group Limited — Drawing on their professional knowledge of dog training, the volunteer team works with animal welfare organisations to provide regular monthly training for dogs awaiting adoption, helping them learn basic manners and simple commands to improve their chances of being adopted. The team also invites various youth groups to take part in these activities, with the aim of inspiring others through these encounters and promoting the messages of animal care and respect for life. Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Staff Club Volunteer Services Team — Making use of their professional electrical and mechanical expertise, the volunteer team helps elderly people living alone or elderly couples by replacing household light bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs, while also providing information and advice on electrical safety in the home. Though changing a light bulb may seem like a small act, it not only helps reduce electricity expenses, but also minimises potential household hazards and enhances quality of life for the elderly.

They begin with Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 4 in C minor, Op. 18 No.4.  This is followed by a modern classic: the intensely autobiographical String Quartet No. 8, Op. 110 by Shostakovich. The evening concludes with the monumental D minor quartet "Death and the Maiden" by Schubert, a highlight of the string quartet repertoire. The Leonkoro Quartet has an enormous stage presence, is passionate about the music, takes risks, and astonishes with its sensitivity to the specific sound of each piece. For this performance the second violin is played by Loïc Rio, a member of the Modigliani Quartet.
