Private sector pay trends / Cathay Pacific's financial performance and airport departure tax increase

    主持人:Raymond Yeung and Mike Rowse

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're delving into the latest pay trends. A recent survey of hiring managers reveals that workers can expect salary increases of up to five percent this year and this even as the government announced pay freezes for civil servants.

Workers in IT and banking can expect to get the most generous increases, as companies in those fields seem to be the most eager to retain top talent. But will this lead more public sector employees to consider a move in the private sector?

In the second half of the show after the news, we’ll take a look at the financial performance of Hong Kong’s flagship airline – Cathay Pacific – and whether a planned increase to the airport departure tax could impact some segments of the aviation industry.

    9:05am-9:30am: Private sector pay trends

9:05am-9:30am: John Mullally, Managing Director at Robert Walters Hong Kong

9:15am-9:30am:Vera Yuen, Lecturer in Economics, HKU Business School, The University of Hong Kong

9:30am-10:00am: Cathay Pacific's financial performance and airport departure tax increase

9:30am-10:00am: Matt Driskill, Editor of Asian Aviation

9:45am-10:00: Glenn McCartney, Associate Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management & Associate Dean at the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau
