UN's new Security Council members / Villa Haw Par reopening / Hong Kong Palace Museum's Forbidden City exhibition

On this programme, we learn more about the new United Nations Security Council members, after the General Assembly last week elected Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago and Zimbabwe as non-permanent members.

Meanwhile, Germany has failed for the first time to secure a seat on that council. What's the significance of the failed bid?

After the break, we talk to the operator of Villa Haw Par on how the historic building, which reopens in September, is being revitalised into a new cultural hub.

To wrap up the show, we learn more about a new exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum which explores how China interacted with the world during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

Climate change and extreme weather / Suspected food tampering cases / HKU's GBA healthcare survey

    主持人:Brian Wong and Rainbow Leung

On Friday's Backchat, we started off by talking about the recent Black Rainstorm Warnings.
Even though Hong Kong was spared from the brunt of Typhoon Podul, its associated thunder and rain storms have lashed the city. At the same time, a number of countries in Europe are still putting out wildfires that are being fanned by a heatwave. We took a closer look at climate change's global impact.
After the break, we talked to a psychologist to look at why people would tamper with food and how this sort of behaviour can be prevented.
And to end the show, we spoke with an urban planner about why more people have been travelling north to the Greater Bay Area for their healthcare needs.

9:05am-9:30am: Climate change and extreme weather
    Speaker:
Benjamin Horton, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment; Chair Professor of Earth Science at City University of Hong Kong
