M+ Museum collaboration with France's Centre Pompidou / US "anti-weaponisation" freeze / Students at risk of "hidden disengagement" / Laos cave rescue

On this programme, we hear from the M+ Museum Director on the multi-year strategic partnership they signed with the renowned Centre Pompidou in France that aims to strengthen cultural exchange between Asia and Europe.

We then chat with a professor of politics on Donald Trump's administration decision to temporarily suspend its 1.8 billion US dollar "anti-weaponisation" slush fund. It was initially intended to settle a lawsuit by the US leader with the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.

After the break, we look into a survey by a local NGO that found one in 12 students were at risk of 'hidden disengagement' behaviour they refer to as pupils who attend school but display withdrawn or passive behaviour.

And finally, a local caving expert will share with us the difficulties and risks that come with venturing into caverns. It comes as two people are reportedly still trapped in a flooded cave in Laos.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's China visit / World's longest flight / Cold snap

    Presenters:Azam Khan and John Bruce

On Thursday's Backchat, we discussed the state visit by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung to China, which just wrapped up on Wednesday. Mr Lee has said that Seoul should seek coexistence and cooperation with Beijing to the greatest extent possible, and actively explore areas that could achieve mutual benefits. Apart from agreeing to deepen economic cooperation and holding a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping, both leaders shared light-hearted moments, including a viral selfie.

We then looked at the world's longest flight that made its record-breaking debut last month. Experts say China Eastern's 29-hour journey from Shanghai to Buenos Aires has set the standard for new, ultra-long-haul journeys.

And we heard from a weather expert about the current cold snap. It comes as the Observatory issued the frost warning for the first time this winter.

9:05am-9:30am: South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's China visit

    Speakers:

David Tizzard, Host of the Korea Deconstructed Podcast and Assistant Professor in Korean Studies at Seoul Women's University
