Several high ranking officials from the US President's administration have said they will actively pursue acquiring the vast Danish territory, and Mr Trump has not ruled out using force to do this. The development has shaken European states, and the Danish Prime Minister has again come out and rebuffed Mr Trump. Why is Washington going down this path even though Denmark is a Nato ally?
