“Two-Gun” Cohen was a Polish-born British-Canadian adventurer who became the bodyguard to Dr Sun Yat-sen. In this episode first broadcast in 2019, historian Mark O’Neill tells the story of how this young delinquent earned the nickname “Two-Gun”, rose to protect the founding father of the Republic of China, and later became a guest of Chairman Mao.

In this 2016 episode, Carmen Yau—then a social work master’s student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University—fondly recalls her maternal grandfather, a wise and charitable man who worked hard to raise 11 children. His life and the garment factory the family ran offered a vivid glimpse into the way of life at the time. And, as the Helena May Institute celebrated its centennial that year, AnneMarie Evans recreated the highlights of its opening ceremony.
