Growth of pet industry on the mainland

    Presenters:CM Chan and Chloe Feng

Join CM Chan and Chloe Feng this Saturday on Trending China!
This week we’re talking about the booming pet industry.
Many people are now choosing to raise pets as their daily companions amid declining marriages and dropping birth rates. This trend has, in part, driven the rapid growth of the country’s pet care industry, which exceeded 300 billion yuan, or about US$42 billion, last year.
And people are getting creative in capitalising on this trend by launching a variety of pet care services. But how has the pet industry evolved into a significant part of the country’s economy? What other factors have driven its growth?
Chloe Feng and CM Chan will discuss these questions and more with Susan Zhang, Research Analyst at CITIC CLSA.
