    The Culture Show 音樂之旅

    簡介

    GIST

    主持人:Stacey Rodda 盧廸思

The Culture Show has been making direct connections between art inspired by music and music inspired by art. Now it’s time for more - unexpected connections...The Culture Show is continuing its look at how the visual arts and music are so connected - sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly. We have unearthed a wealth of examples, yet we have so much more to explore. I hope that for those of you who join me for the music – much of which has never been, or is very seldom played on Radio 4 –  you will also develop my passion for art.  Join me, Stacey Rodda, Sunday nights at 7 pm for The Culture Show.

    THE CULTURE SHOW

    THE SURREALISTS AND BOSCH

Composer John Tavener and writer and art critic Edward Lucie-Smith’s collaboration on Three Surrealist Songs, takes us to more works by Magritte, Ernst and Dali with ‘religious themes’, but not associated with the texts: Magritte’s The Annunciation; Ernst’s Pieta; Dali’s Spiritus promptus est, caro vero infirma from the Biblia Sacra series.

To complete the programme one more ‘surrealist’ art work with a 'religious theme' - The Garden of Earthly Delights - the famous Hieronymus Bosch painting in which the Renaissance artist portrays, in a triptych, the innocence of the Garden of Eden, its corruption from Carnal Knowledge, and the retribution of Hell – a triptych full of dreamlike, bizarre visions that heavily inspired modern surrealists. It’s ‘accompanied’ by Michael Berkeley’s work of the same name.
