The annual Food Expo will be held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13th to 17th August, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors to provide a one-stop collection of global cuisine. The Gourmet Zone continues to present wines, fine staples, desserts, and fine coffees from around the world. As for the Public Hall, in addition to the $1 products, there are also various specialty snacks and discount products, so you can taste and shop like crazy. In the Star Kitchen, celebrated chefs will demonstrate exquisite dishes using premium ingredients.

Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance

Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance has a history of over 140 years. This year, it will be held for three nights, from 24th to 26th September (the 14th to 16th day of the eighth lunar month) in the Tai Hang area in Causeway Bay. It takes around 300 people taking turns to parade the dragon. Made of rattan frames, ropes and pearl straws, the fire dragon is about 67 meters long, longer than five double-decker buses. It is adorned with over 10,000 burning incense sticks. Two pearls, with incense sticks all over, will guide the dragon along its path through the streets and alleys of Tai Hang, passing by Lin Fa Kung, Sun Chun Street and Tung Lo Wan Road, and Wun Sha Street is the best place to watch.
Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance was first performed in 1880 to ward off a plague and it has evolved into an annual festive activity. It was inscribed on China's National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011. In recent years, a small 20-metre LED dragon carried by children has been introduced to inherit this tradition.

Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival; Partnering Up for Hong Kong Movies

The annual Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival is being held at the Victoria Park and the Cultural Centre Piazza from now until 27th September. In Victoria Park, there’s also the debut “International Lantern Spectacular” by the Tourism Board, bringing together over 3,000 characteristic lanterns from 20 countries and regions. The highlights include the “Shadowlight”, an 8-metre banyan tree installation, tailored made with the national intangible cultural heritage, Qinhuai lantern. On the “World Lantern Boulevard”, there’re silk lanterns from Jinju in South Korea, multicoloured patchwork lanterns from Brazil, Polish folk lanterns and more.

Asia+ Festival; "Design Ah!" Exhibition

Held from September to November, Asia Plus Festival brings together artists from more than 30 countries and regions, with Armenia, Brazil, Czechia, Moldova, Palestine and Uruguay participating for the first time. Themed “Traditions Recast”, Performances are presented from a new perspective, blending traditions and contemporary elements. The Festival covers music, dance, acrobatics and more, bringing over 100 events. Some even feature collaborations between Hong Kong and artists from all over the world.

Partnering Up for Hong Kong Movies; Asia+ Festival

The exhibition “Better Together – Partnering Up for Hong Kong Movies” is now being held at Tai Kwun, taking you into the time tunnel to appreciate the team spirit of “partnering up” in Hong Kong films in different eras. The exhibition reproduces scenes and props from many classic Hong Kong films, including Black Rose from the 1960s; Aces Go Places in the 1980s; Once a Thief and Gen-X Cops in the 1990s; Rob-B-Hood in the 2000s, and most recently, Rob N Roll. There are also exclusive interviews and shooting footage of stars, including Louis Koo, Sammi Cheng, Sam Hui, Aaron Kwok, Man Lim Chung, Gordon Lam and more, who share how filmmakers and actors “partner up”. It runs until 4th October.

Six industry organisations will host eight programmes, covering areas such as haute couture, cross-regional menswear, denim culture, and sustainable design. Themed “Rhythm of the Heart”, the events includes exhibitions, fashion shows, networking and more.

CENTRESTAGE; Yu Lan Cultural Festival

CENTRESTAGE; Treasures of Global Jewellery from The Met
Asia’s mega fashion event, CENTRESTAGE, will be held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2nd to 5th September, bringing together over 200 brands from 24 countries and regions, with more than 40 events and fashion shows. The highlight, CENTRESTAGE ELITES, will feature Kit Wan, a renowned local visual artist, who combines “mutation” and “mythology” with his iconic sci-fi elements and three-dimensional cuts.
Among the seven themed areas, the new Hype Square pavilion will showcase the brands of local celebrities and KOLs. Korea will be the exhibition’s “featured partner” for the first time, with former girl group IZ*ONE member Lee Chae-yeon appearing in the theme show “SEOUListic”.

Yu Lan Cultural Festival; "Design Ah!" Exhibition

Yu Lan Festival of the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community is a national intangible cultural heritage. If you want to learn more, go to the Yu Lan Cultural Festival held at the Victoria Park from 4th to 6th September.
The highlight, Festival Treats Competition, imitates the custom of giving the offerings among the poor. This year’s competition features more than 50 teams and 300 participants from Korea, Malaysia and the Greater Bay Area and other places. There will also be workshops on traditional handicrafts, making Chiu Chow dumplings and kung fu tea, as well as Festival Offerings Competition, exhibitions, and Immersive Interactive Theatre “Cross Beyond”.
