Voyage with Ambassadors 2
Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Türkiye is a country steeped in history and culture. Its biggest city, Istanbul, straddles both Europe and Asia, making it subtly similar to Hong Kong, a metropolis where East meets West.
Mr Kerim Sercan Evcin, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Hong Kong and Macau, is our guest for this episode. Apart from introducing viewers to numerous authentic dishes and the unique food culture of his home country, he will join our presenter Chris for a cup of Turkish coffee, the culture and tradition of which have been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage – they will even forge a 40-year friendship over the drink! Seeing that Mr Evcin is a rowing and drumming enthusiast, Chris will also accompany him in experiencing the dynamic custom of dragon boat racing.
In the “Foreigners in Hong Kong” segment, we will see how primary school art teacher Selen, who loves art and Hong Kong culture, integrates the city’s iconic neon lights into her teaching. She has also brought Ebru, the unique Turkish art of marbling, to Hong Kong as a platform for conducting cultural exchange.
