On Monday's Backchat, we started by speaking to experts about the latest Epstein Files. Mandated by a new law, the US Department of Justice is steadily releasing declassified documents linked to the deceased financier and paedophile.
However, both Democratic and Republican lawmakers were quick to point out that many names and pages remain redacted or blacked out. US President Donald Trump's name, meanwhile, has appeared more in the latest tranche of files. How much of a political danger is Mr Trump in?

After the break, we spoke to a top Hong Kong astro-physicist regarding Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin launching the first wheelchair user into space. He also shared with us the most exciting space developments to look forward to in 2026!
And lastly, we heared more from an infectious diseases expert, after the emergence of a “super flu” gripped headlines worldwide. Local health officials are once again reminding residents to get vaccinated.

Hung Hom harbourfront development plans / The legacy of Hollywood star Gene Hackman

    Presenters:Jenny Lam and Ada Wong

On Monday’s Backchat, we’re talking about plans by the government to develop the waterfront around Hung Hom.

Delivering his Budget speech last Wednesday, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said that his administration would propose building a new yacht club as well as commercial and residential developments in the district.
The sailing industry largely welcomed the minister’s plans, adding that Hong Kong had a lot of potential to become a regional pioneer in the field. However, some have reservations as to whether Hung Hom is the right place to build such facilities.
After 9:45, we look into the legacy of Hollywood actor Gene Hackman, who was found dead at home, alongside his wife and dog.

9:05am-9:45am: Hung Hom harbourfront development plans

9:05am-9:45am: Aaron Goach, Vice Commodore, Hebe Haven Yacht Club

9:05am-9:45am: Ian Brownlee, Managing Director of Masterplan Limited

9:05am-9:45am: Ivan Ho, Chairman of the Harbourfront Commission

9:45am-10:00am: The legacy of Hollywood star Gene Hackman

9:45am-10:00am: Ellen Seiter, Programme Director and Chair Professor, Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University
