    The National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games / Indonesian helpers affected by Tai Po fire / Filipino helpers affected by Tai Po fire / DesignInspire 2025

    On Friday's Backchat, we looked at how Hong Kong is gearing up for the upcoming National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games, which will be co-hosted by the two SARs and Guangdong. The Games will kick off next Monday and conclude on December 15.Hong Kong is sending its largest contingent to date, with more than 280 athletes. 
    We then spoke to officials from Indonesia and the Philippines on the latest regarding foreign domestic helpers who are affected by the devastating Tai Po fire.
    And finally, two local artists told us more about this year's DesignInspire -- an annual creative showcase presented by the Trade Development Council.

    Civil service recruitment / HK moves up in global university rankings

    On Friday's Backchat, we took a closer look at why the civil service has been attractive for fresh graduates. This came as the government revealed that its civil service graduate posts received more than 20,000 applicants for a third consecutive year.

    The administration has been organising multiple drives in recent years to promote government posts among fresh graduates through promotional activities -- not only in Hong Kong but also on the mainland and overseas. We discussed the recruitment strategy and whether these youngsters will likely stay in the public sector for the long term.

    After the news, we talked about the rankings of Hong Kong universities, as six of these institutions made it to the top 200 in a Times Higher Education Ranking.
