Carlos Escueta - the Hong Kong Football Festival / Ajmal Samuel - Hong Kong’s iconic Around the Island Race / The Bright Side: Sahil Sharma

Coming up on Brunch on Tuesday 28th July with Shazia Awan-Scully.

After 10.30am, sports correspondent Carlos Escueta joins us to look ahead to the Hong Kong Football Festival at Kai Tak Stadium. We’ll be talking about the blockbuster matches featuring Manchester City, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Juventus, and what fans can expect from one of the biggest sporting events of the summer.
Then after the news at 11am, we’ll be joined by Ajmal Samuel, endurance paddler and organiser of Hong Kong’s iconic Around the Island Race. He’ll tell us about this year’s event, share some of his adventures on the water, and give us a sneak peek at the book he’s currently writing.
And after 11.30am, it’s time for The Bright Side, with our intern Sahil Sharma, bringing us some uplifting stories from around the world.

On Thursday’s Brunch, just after 10:30am Cruz is joined by coach, TEDx speaker and children’s author Jo Hay to discuss self-worth, identity and why helping children embrace who they are may be one of the most important lessons we can teach. This week for Check in at 11, Alishiba Matloob speaks to Eli Zaelo, the founder of The AfriChine Experience, an arts and culture showcase bringing together Chinese and African communities in Hong Kong. After 11:30am, Cruz speaks with Dana Winograd, founder of Plastic Free Seas, about citizen science, plastic pollution, cigarette butt waste, and how small individual actions can drive meaningful environmental change.
