    During the late Qing Dynasty, Silas Aaron Hardoon, a Jew born in Baghdad, emerged as a highly successful businessman in Shanghai. He would eventually own approximately 1,400 buildings on Nanjing Road, an area that remains the city’s central business district to this day. But following his death, his business empire fell apart. Annemarie Evans speaks with author Mark O’Neill, who has written a book on remarkable Jewish individuals who left a lasting imprint on China, to explore this extraordinary story.
