Sayuri Shirai, Visiting Fellow and Advisor for Sustainable Policies at the Asian Development Bank Institute says the BOJ did more than what was expected last week, but the yen weakened as we didn’t see a significant change to the interest differential with the US. She goes on to talk about inflation, saying price hikes are causing domestic consumers to tighten their belts and that though tourists are consuming more, that isn’t having a big impact on economic growth.
