WHERE ART AND MUSIC COLLIDE
In this episode we look at Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette - a masterpiece of French Impressionism and a celebration of happiness and prosperity - a fête galante set in a 'modern' Paris park. We’ll hear ‘dance music’ by Offenbach, Berlioz and Ravel to set the mood.

This week we continue to make the Mahler-Klimt connection and Lake Attersee is a place the two Gustavs loved.
Klimt's dramatic views of the lush environs of Lake Attersee, in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria, are among his most accomplished and celebrated landscapes - and, the same breathtaking surroundings worked wonders for Mahler’s creativity, inspiring half a dozen songs and most of his 2nd and 3rd symphonies.
Klimt interpreted on canvas what Mahler did on manuscript paper.
