殿堂級唱作歌手James Taylor成名於1970年代，曾獲5項格林美獎及獲取過40張金、白金、雙白金唱片獎項。他擅長演唱感性柔和的歌曲，所作的樂曲揉合民歌、搖滾及流行樂。他獨特的男中音和與眾不同的結他演奏具有極大影響力。1971年登上《時代雜誌》封面，被視為唱作人的先驅。

每年美國MusiCares都會頒發年度人物予一些在音樂界表現出色、成就傑出，並且熱心公益的歌手、樂手。Taylor不但在音樂造詣上孜孜不倦，對各種公益事業包括環保、人道主義等更不遺餘力，因而獲頒MusiCares 2006年度人物獎。

Filmed from the Los Angeles Convention Centre, MusiCares Person of the Year has honoured legendary musicians for their artistic achievements in the music industry, and their dedication to Philanthropy.

The quintessential singer-songwriter James Taylor creates music that combines folk, rock and pop sensibilities. He rose to fame in the 1970s and over the course of a long-running career, Taylor has won five Grammy Awards and seen many of his albums go platinum. He has maintained an un-paralleled commitment to music and various philanthropic efforts, from environmental to humanitarian causes throughout his career. He was honored as the 2006 MusiCares Person of the Year.

This episode features performances from the likes of Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen, and Carole King. James Taylor also sings his hits "Fire and Rain", "Shower the People" and “You’ve Got a Friend” with Carole King.
