Backchat
On Monday’s Backchat, we’re talking about plans to redevelop the Flower Market’s neighbourhood in Mong Kok.
The Urban Renewal Authority has unveiled its proposal to redevelop five areas surrounding the iconic market. This includes turning a nearby sports centre and football pitch into a municipal complex with an underground carpark as well as a waterway park.
Several buildings on four small plots along Flower Market Road will also be knocked down to make way for shops and parks.
The URA stressed that it’d do its best to preserve the iconic market, adding that most flower shops were outside of the renewal zone.
After 9:30, we’ll also look at what makes Hollywood Road so special, after Time Out Magazine named it the world’s second coolest street.
And after 9:45, we find out more about a community art project involving migrant domestic workers.
