MTR Tseung Kwan O line disruption / ASEAN Summit

    Presenters:Azam Khan and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we looked into the MTR's latest mishap, in which a power supply failure on the Tseung Kwan O Line disrupted services for over five hours during the evening rush hour last week.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said the government is highly concerned and disappointed about the incident, and that the MTRC will have to set aside over HK$19 million in compensation in the form of a 50 percent discount on rides on a special fare day.

We spoke to an industry representative and a district councillor about the latest developments.

After the break, we shifted our focus to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, or Asean, which is wrapping up in Kuala Lumpur. One of the highlights is the inaugural ASEAN-China-GCC summit, calling for greater cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council. What is the significance of this meeting at a time when Washington's tariffs are fuelling uncertainty?
