    The National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games / Indonesian helpers affected by Tai Po fire / Filipino helpers affected by Tai Po fire / DesignInspire 2025

    On Friday's Backchat, we looked at how Hong Kong is gearing up for the upcoming National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games, which will be co-hosted by the two SARs and Guangdong. The Games will kick off next Monday and conclude on December 15.Hong Kong is sending its largest contingent to date, with more than 280 athletes. 
    We then spoke to officials from Indonesia and the Philippines on the latest regarding foreign domestic helpers who are affected by the devastating Tai Po fire.
    And finally, two local artists told us more about this year's DesignInspire -- an annual creative showcase presented by the Trade Development Council.

    APEC meeting / Urban farm pilot project / Japan bear attacks

    On Monday's Backchat, we looked back at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit that wrapped up in South Korea over the weekend. Leaders from 21 countries and regions convened to discuss advancing regional connectivity, spurring innovation-driven growth and creating a more resilient future for the Asia-Pacific. 

    In the lead up to the summit, a highly-anticipated meeting between President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump took place in Busan. 

    After that, we learned about the government's new urban farming pilot project which was launched in Ma On Shan last month.

    At the end of the programme, we got to the bottom of the spike in bear attacks in Japan, after the country reported that the number of people killed by encounters with the wild animal reached a record twelve so far this year.
