World Radio Day / Balochistan violence / New dating trends / AI-powered music robot

In the spirit of World Radio Day, we kicked off this Backchat by speaking to the Head of Radio at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union to learn more about listening trends around the world.

After that, we talked to a political analyst on the recent violence that took place in Pakistan's south-western province of Balochistan. Pakistan's military recently concluded a week-long operation in the region against insurgency, following a deadly attack last month by separatists.
After the break, we brought the latest dating trends that are capturing the hearts of people across China.
And finally, we learned more about what happens when you combine music and robots with empathetic speech. A local university research team has discovered that this combination may foster a stronger bond between humans and machines.

Australian PM's China visit / CUHK's new surgical tool treating ischemic strokes / Cloud seeding technology / Chikungunya fever

    主持人:Azam Khan and John Bruce

On Wednesday's Backchat, we started off with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's recent state visit to China, his second in as many years. A number of trade agreements were signed and both sides agreed on the importance of deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation. We spoke to an expert about the significance of the trip.
We then learnt about a new, state-of-the-art device developed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong that treats a form of stroke.
After the break, we heard from a meteorologist on cloud seeding, a decades old weather modification technique -- and found out whether it's capable of triggering natural disasters. It came after rumours spread online that cloud seeding was to blame for the deadly flash floods in Central Texas earlier this month.

Finally, we wrapped up the programme by speaking to the Centre for Health Protection about Chikungunya fever-- a mosquito borne disease that's caused an outbreak in neighbouring Guangdong.
